Club Update 3/16/20

Dear Rush Wisconsin Membership:
I hope everyone is doing well under the current climate. First and foremost, it is my hope that all of you and your respective family and friends are healthy and safe.

As the COVID-19 situation remains ever-changing Rush Wisconsin will be suspending all training, games and meetings until the week of April 13. This includes the Annual General Meeting scheduled for March 29th, 2020.

We will do our part to heed the call from state government, national government and national health agencies in taking the steps needed to slow the spread of this illness through social distancing. Our leadership team continues to meet daily, consult with our Board of Directors, other Rush associates and our partners to monitor the situation so  we can make the most informed and thoughtful decisions throughout this unprecedented event.

The foundational principle that will guide all our decision making will be to secure the safety and health of our membership and staff. In the coming days and weeks you will be receiving more information from our staff about key program initiatives that allow us to continue our contact with players and families, even if we cannot do it in traditional ways. We recognize that both players and parents needs us now more than ever to engage players and challenge them to stay involved and committed to their development in the game they love. Key initiatives we are working on will include but not be limited to:

  1. A comprehensive online soccer training program created and presented for all players in the club to access
  2. Online communication tools to connect players, parents and coaches
  3. Process to track player engagement and commitment to assigned tasks
  4. A calendar portal (Teamsnap) to track and communicate all ongoing scheduling changes
  5. Facebook Live events to monitor and answer membership questions and concerns and release most up to date programming initiatives
Our first priority in the coming days is to address the training needs of our players even as we determine the status of league play (Classic, State and MRL Leagues) with the appropriate governing bodies. Here is the most updated status of leagues at this time:

MAYSA Classic League - No decision has been communicated yet
WYSA State League - All games suspended until April 30. Games scheduled prior to April 30 need to be rescheduled
MRL - All games suspended until April 13

All leagues are notifying members that the upcoming season and games can be extended into late June and early July.

It is our hope that by April 13 we will have more information about the status of our own tournament and other tournaments identified as part of our playing schedule this season. We continue to evaluate the entirety of our upcoming season based on the principles outlined above and will communicate directly with you as more information becomes available.

Thank you for your continued patience and support during this time. We recognize these are challenging and uncertain moments for all of us. It is our hope that we can be a source of support and engagement for your children even as we work collaboratively to navigate the challenges ahead. We will certainly need your support during this time to keep things moving forward at the club.

I look forward to staying in touch with all of you and wish you all the best of health.

Sincerely,

Ben John
